Den 14 mars kommer Giuseppe Miuccio till Sverige och Stockholm, det blir hans åttonde land av 50 där han springer 50 kilometer i varje land.
Hans story med titeln, Run for Voices – From Sicily to 50 Countries
I was born in Sicily, Italy – a place where family is everything.
I grew up surrounded by loud Sunday lunches, strong personalities, deep love, and even deeper loyalty. In Sicily, you don’t just grow up with family, you grow up because of them. You learn sacrifice. You learn resilience. You learn that when one person struggles, everyone feels it.
My uncle was part of that world. Strong. Proud. Present.
When he was diagnosed with throat cancer, everything changed. Watching someone who once filled a room slowly lose his voice is something I will never forget. The silence becomes heavy. Conversations become painful. You realise how powerful something as simple as speech truly is.
And when he passed away, the silence stayed with me.
I remember thinking:
If he can no longer speak… then I will move.
If his voice is gone… then I will make noise.
That’s how Run for Voices was born. I now run 50 kilometres in 50 countries to honour him and to raise awareness and funds for the Throat Cancer Foundation.
This isn’t just a challenge. It’s a promise.
So far, I’ve run:
- 🏴 England, London
- 🇲🇹 Malta
- 🇮🇸 Iceland – during polar night at -12°C
- 🇭🇺 Budapest
- 🇪🇸 Barcelona – despite food poisoning days before
- 🇩🇰 Copenhagen in freezing temperatures
And on March 14th, 🇸🇪 Stockholm will be Country #8 of 50 just after running in Greece.
Every country is different. Different weather. Different language. Different pain. But the mission remains the same.
When it’s cold, painful and lonely, I remember the reason why I am doing it and the people I am here to honour.
I’m not trying to break records.
I’m trying to break limits.
For those who can’t speak anymore.
From a small town in Sicily to running across the world, this journey is about turning grief into movement. Turning loss into legacy. Turning silence into action.
And I will keep running until all 50 are done.
