Hi Rory!
Let’s start with the race that qualified you for the Olympics, the Seville marathon where you ran 2:08:01. Were you surprised about the time?
Hey, I was pleased with the time, but I thought I could run around that time on a good day.
One week to go and then it’s finally time for the Olympic marathon. Has your build up been going as you wanted?
My build up has been really solid. Healthy and hit some really strong long sessions. Due to the demands of the course training was a bit different.
For those who follow you on YouTube have seen that you been doing some hill running. How big a part do you think the hills on the Paris course will have?
I believe the hills make this race unlike any other marathon in the world.
The heat will also probably play a big part of the race, are you a good in warmer conditions?
I ran well in Budapest where it was extremely warm last year, I feel that and my prep have prepared me for any and all conditions.
How do hope the race develops to fit your plan?
I am hoping my competition runs in a way that the course and conditions punish them, I consider myself good at measuring my efforts. The crazier the race, the better for me.
So if everything works out and you have golden legs this Saturday, what is a realistic result?
I believe I can place top 15, there will be a lot of people that do not have a good day, so if you have one you’ll end up placing higher than you think is possible on paper.
Will you be using any special equipment or prototype specific for this race?
No special equipment, just what I used in my qualifying race.
Ok, final question, do you know any Swedish runners?
Obviously I know of Almgren, he has had a phenomenal year, and fellow Puma athlete David Nilsson.
